  3. B-Tree Filer is a library of powerful database routines for the Turbo
  4. Pascal programmer. Network support is built into the library from the
  5. ground up. As a result, applications using B-Tree Filer can run in
  6. single-user mode, or on Novell, MS-Net, NetBIOS-compatible, and other
  7. networks without changes to the program's source code.

  9. B-Tree Filer can generate programs that run under MS-DOS or Windows
  10. 3.x using the DOS and Windows versions of Turbo Pascal.

  12. B-Tree Filer offers powerful B+tree indexing techniques with dynamic
  13. page caching for ultimate performance. Databases built with B-Tree
  14. Filer can hold up to two billion records, with up to 100 separate
  15. indexes stored in a single index file. The library supports both fixed
  16. and variable length records up to 64K bytes in length, and also
  17. includes a failsafe mode to guarantee high reliability of transaction
  18. -oriented databases. Index page buffers can be allocated from normal
  19. heap memory or, in real mode, from EMS. Databases can be opened in
  20. read-only modes for network security control or for use with CD-ROMs.
  21. B-Tree Filer offers flexible locking capabilities for network
  22. applications.

  24. A number of utility units are supplied with the library: a browse unit
  25. for full-screen scanning of a database (versions are supplied for DOS,
  26. DOS with Object Professional, DOS with Turbo Vision, and Windows with
  27. Borland's ObjectWindows Library); units to purge deleted records,
  28. regenerate a corrupted index file or to change the size or format of
  29. each data record; a virtual sort unit to quickly reorder any number of
  30. data records; and others. Also included are two network-specific units
  31. for NetBIOS and SHARE compatible networks.

  33. A set of Novell NetWare specific units are provided. These give
  34. connection related information, shell information, basic message
  35. passing, TTS, semaphores, print capture and printing directly to print
  36. queues. There is a unit to provide IPX and SPX communications.

  39. including one that supports object-oriented coding of databases.

  44. B-Tree Filer includes complete source code, and no royalties are
  45. required for applications using the library. Supports Borland's Turbo
  46. Pascal 6.0 and 7.0, as well as Turbo Pascal for Windows 1.5 and
  47. Borland Pascal 7.0. B-Tree Filer can generate DOS real mode and DOS
  48. protected mode applications using Borland Pascal 7.0. Requires 256K
  49. memory as a minimum. MS-DOS 3.3 or later, Windows 3.1 or later. Hard
  50. disk recommended. Full 60 day guarantee.

  52. The list price of B-Tree Filer is $199. This includes all of the
  53. network functions.

  55. Upgrades from earlier B-Tree Filer versions are available. The single
  56. user version is no longer available; all upgrades must be to the
  57. network version. Furthermore all upgrades include the fourth version
  58. of the manual, a disk-only upgrade is not available.
